Thoughts About The Coronavirus

Posted

If you are an anxious person like me you are constantly scanning the environment for new things to worry about. Introducing the Coronavirus! It's the perfect thing to start worrying about. Should I travel? Is the stock market going to collapse? Should I start stocking up on food? Will my family be OK? There are all sorts of scenarios one can worry about with this newest fear.

I do feel in life you should not put your head in the sand and think nothing bad will happen, but if your worry impacts your daily happiness that's when it's an issue. Humans weren't optimized for happiness, we were optimized for survival. Surviving is basic level human existence, you are basically an animal at this point. I don't know about you, but I'd like to be happy and fulfilled on a daily basis not just simply surviving through life.

OK, what do you need to do? First, get clear what makes you happy and what you want out of life. Follow this roadmap as your primary operating system through life, not simply reacting to fear, like the Coronavirus. Substitute Coronavirus with X, it could be anything.

You have to take charge for your own happiness, this is your responsibility, no one else. Just know there will ALWAYS be something to worry about, something to fear, it's up to you to live now and be happy in this moment.
